The Lord of the Rings The Stable of Edoras Blueprint
Weta Workshop was intrinsically involved in the design and physical effects manufacture for all three films of The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Based on sketches by legendary conceptual designer John Howe and brought to life by the 3Foot6 Ltd. construction team under the guidance of production designer Grant Major, these blueprints were instrumental in transforming artistic vision into the on-screen grandeur fans know and love.
Edoras, one of the film's most iconic locations, consisted of an expansive, multi-structure set erected on location at Mount Sunday, New Zealand, as well as a number of smaller interior studio sets. The exterior was also digitally augmented with hundreds of additional buildings to create the impression of an entire city.
Unveiled from the depths of the Middle-earth vault, these 1:2 scale reproductions of the original set plans from The Two Towers offer a rare glimpse into the craftsmanship behind one of the most iconic locations in cinematic history - Edoras.
